Renowned footballer Lionel Messi has reportedly made a generous donation by giving his eighth Ballon d’Or to the Barcelona museum. Spanish journalist Miquel Blázquez shared this news, stating that Messi, now playing for Inter Miami, decided to contribute his eighth Ballon d’Or to the Barcelona Museum.
Blázquez’s post on X reads, “Leo Messi has donated his eighth Ballon d’Or to the Barça museum. Although he did not win it as a Barça footballer, the Argentine star has made the gesture of giving it up so that it can be displayed along with the other seven he has won. Impossible not to miss him. #FCBarcelona” (English translated).
Lionel Messi secured his eighth Ballon d’Or in October 2023, surpassing Erling Haaland, the UEFA Player of the Year and treble winner from Norway. Messi left Barcelona in 2021, opting to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent. After spending two seasons with PSG, the 36-year-old pursued his American dream, joining Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami last summer.
