French superstar Kylian Mbappe has been officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player after completing his move from PSG.
The 25-year-old winger was presented to a cheering crowd of 80,000 Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday morning, July 16.
Mbappe made his grand entrance sporting the iconic number 9 jersey, famously worn by club legends such as Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo de Lima, Javier Saviola, and Roberto Soldado.
Speaking in Spanish at his unveiling, Mbappe expressed his excitement and gratitude: “My family are so happy. I can see my mum crying. It’s an incredible day for me. I’ve dreamed about this day since I was a kid. Being here today means a lot to me.”
He continued, “Now I have another dream – and that’s the dream of living up to this club’s history and Madridistas’ expectations. I can promise that I will give my all for the club and this badge. I’d also like to send a message to all the kids here today. I was once like you. If you have the passion, you’ll achieve your dreams.”
Mbappe’s emotional speech resonated with the fans, and he urged them to chant “Hala Madrid!” in unison.
Mbappe spent seven years in the French capital, where he won seven Ligue 1 titles but fell short of winning the Champions League. He agreed to a significant pay cut after signing a five-year contract with Real Madrid, set to receive £12.8 million net per season, down from the £21.4 million net he earned in Paris.
