Chelsea Players Unfollow Enzo Fernandez Over ‘Racist’ Chant Video

Written by Oryiman David Mson

Three of Enzo Fernandez’s French Chelsea teammates have unfollowed him on Instagram following his controversial video. The video shows Fernandez and the Argentinian national team singing a ‘racist’ chant aimed at French footballers after Argentina’s Copa America victory against Colombia on July 14.

Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), condemned the chant as ‘racist and discriminatory’ and announced plans to file a legal complaint with FIFA.

Wesley Fofana, a French player of Ivorian descent, labeled the video ‘uninhibited racism’ on social media. Following this, Fofana, along with teammates Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto, unfollowed Fernandez on Instagram.

Chelsea is investigating the incident seriously, given their large number of French players who are black or mixed race, including Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and Benoit Badiashile.
