Nigerian singer Skales has addressed long-standing rumors about his relationship with former label mate Wizkid, clarifying that their connection was strictly professional. Speaking during an interview to promote his upcoming album Martina’s Son, Skales dismissed the notion that he and Wizkid were ever close friends, stating that they were simply colleagues under the same label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
In response to speculations, Skales explained that although he has faced challenges and accusations throughout his career, including betrayal from people he once helped, he continues to stay focused and blessed in his journey.
The controversy surrounding their relationship escalated when a user on X (formerly Twitter) accused Skales of betraying Wizkid by associating with the star’s rivals. The user wrote, “You switched on Wiz too, became friends with his enemies… Forever an underdog.”
Skales promptly responded, denying any betrayal, and clarified, “I never ever switched on him… he doesn’t like me… we were never close friends either but EME members… so rest.”
This statement sheds light on the reality of their relationship, putting an end to the ongoing speculation about a possible personal rift between the two Nigerian music stars.
