Usamatu Adamu, the 45-year-old village head of Unguwan Tambai, Runka, in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, has been arrested for allegedly working with criminal elements. He was among 15 suspects paraded by the Katsina Police Command for involvement in various crimes.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the spokesperson for the police, revealed that Adamu was apprehended on October 3, following credible intelligence linking him to a series of kidnappings in the area. During interrogation, he confessed and named two accomplices, Rabe Sada (alias BBC), aged 62, and Nasiru Sha’aibu, aged 48, both from Runka village. The group is suspected of providing information to a bandit leader hiding in Runka forest. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, 24-year-old Usman Mohammed-Iyal was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Katsina. The police acted swiftly to rescue the victim after she was reported missing, leading to the suspect’s arrest. The case is under investigation.
The police also made several other arrests involving child cruelty, theft, and vandalism. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court once the cases are concluded.
