Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has called on the newly deployed corps members in the state to serve Nigeria with unwavering loyalty and dedication. The governor made this appeal during the opening ceremony of the Batch B, Stream 2 orientation course at the NYSC Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area.
Governor Alia, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. John Akume, emphasized the significant role that the corps members have in shaping Nigeria’s future. He urged them to prioritize the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programme offered by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), highlighting its importance in their personal and professional development.
State Coordinator Veronica Garba expressed gratitude for the governor’s continued support of the NYSC scheme, noting the positive impact of his leadership. She also encouraged the corps members to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the NYSC and the state government.
Garba praised the governor for ensuring the timely payment of the corps members’ monthly state allowance of fifteen thousand naira and for approving one million naira for the four outstanding 2023 Batch B corps members. She also commended the state government’s efforts in controlling erosion at the Orientation Camp through the construction of drainage systems and road networks.
The orientation course saw 1,200 corps members take the oath of allegiance, administered by Justice Josephine Ayua on behalf of the State Chief Judge, M.A. Ikpambese.
