President Bola Tinubu has committed to enhancing the capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force by providing advanced equipment and resources to improve its operational effectiveness.
During a graduation ceremony for 478 students at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, Tinubu outlined his administration’s plan to support the Police Force. He announced a major recruitment initiative aimed at engaging more young people in national security efforts.
Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasized the importance of upholding ethical standards in modern policing and avoiding corruption. He expressed confidence that the new graduates had received comprehensive training to contribute positively to Nigeria’s security.
“The Federal Government remains dedicated to supporting this academy, one of the top training institutions for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa,” Tinubu said. “Our focus is on ensuring that you, the new officers, serve with integrity, professionalism, and commitment.”
He urged the graduates to prioritize national interests and approach their duties with dedication. “As you step into your roles, remember that you are not just police officers but also ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Service. Your actions will reflect on both the institution and the nation.”
The academy’s Commandant, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, noted that the graduates had been well-prepared with essential policing knowledge. He praised the Federal Government for its investment in the academy and its graduates, which he said was crucial for the ceremony’s success.
“With 17 programs accredited by the National Universities Commission, the academy continues to maintain high standards in police training,” Abubakar added.
