The Rivers Police Command has rescued a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped in Enugu and transported to a hideout in Port Harcourt. Rivers Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, provided details during a recent briefing where suspects were paraded for various offenses.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect lured the girl from the Garki area in Enugu, concealed her in a bag, and transported her to Port Harcourt. Upon arrival, the victim was taken to a location where she was held against her will.
On September 13, 2024, around 10 am, operatives from the Abuloma Police Station in Port Harcourt received credible intelligence about suspicious activities involving a man and a young girl. Acting on this information, the police quickly intervened, leading to the arrest of Prince Amadi Ogbonda, a 24-year-old resident of the Akwuke area in Enugu. The teenage victim was found in his custody.
The victim has since been given medical attention, and the suspect is currently in police custody. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in this case.
CP Disu emphasized the police’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all citizens and bringing those responsible for such offenses to justice.
