Pastor Kumuyi Explains Decision to Allow Muslim Clerics Speak at Church Conference

Written by Oryiman David Mson

Pastor William Kumuyi, the founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has addressed the growing controversy surrounding his decision to invite Muslim clerics to speak at his church conference. The incident took place during the Change Makers International (CMI) conference at the General Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The move sparked widespread debate on social media, particularly after images surfaced of Muslim clerics wearing caps while speaking from the church pulpit.

In a video response that has since gone viral, Pastor Kumuyi clarified that the decision was made because the conference was held in a stadium rather than within the traditional church building. He explained, “People were asking, Pastor WF, what are you looking at, look at that man having his cap on. Yes, we are in the stadium, we are not in the church building, and so I do not have to challenge him, he has his cap on.”

Pastor Kumuyi’s explanation highlights the distinction between holding an event in a public venue versus within the sacred confines of a church, suggesting that the setting influenced his approach.
