In a series of successful military operations across Nigeria, the armed forces eliminated 152 terrorists, apprehended 109 suspects, and rescued 91 kidnapped hostages within the past week.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, provided an update on the operations in Abuja, noting that the military had conducted targeted strikes against two prominent terrorist commanders, Sadiku and Alhaji Yusuf. Sadiku’s base was located at Tsora Hill in Katsina State, while Alhaji Yusuf’s stronghold was in Yadi Forest, Kaduna State.
Buba also reported the arrest of two female collaborators who had been involved in negotiating ransoms on behalf of the terrorists. Additionally, the troops recovered 183 weapons, 4,443 rounds of ammunition, and various other military assets during their operations.
In the North East, the military neutralized 63 terrorists and arrested 38 suspects, rescuing 35 hostages. A total of 196 terrorists, including men, women, and children, surrendered to troops in Borno State. An airstrike on August 31 successfully eliminated ISWAP spiritual leader Goni Sanda and other terrorists.
Operations in the North Central, North West, and Niger Delta regions also led to significant victories, including the destruction of illegal refining sites and the recovery of large quantities of stolen crude oil.
Maj.-Gen. Buba praised the armed forces for their continued efforts and called on Nigerian citizens to support the military in the ongoing fight against terrorism. All arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
