NAFDAC Confirms Investigation into Prophet Jeremiah’s Unregistered Miracle Products

Written by Oryiman David Mson

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confirmed that the so-called ‘miracle water,’ ‘miracle soap,’ and other products marketed by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin are not registered with the agency.

This development comes in response to public concerns and scrutiny raised by social media critic Verydarkman, who highlighted the unregulated status of Fufeyin’s miracle products. Olusayo Akintola, NAFDAC’s Resident Media Consultant, stated that Prophet Fufeyin, associated with Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries located in Effurun, Sapele Road, Delta State, has misled the public by falsely claiming that these products have NAFDAC approval.

Akintola detailed that Prophet Fufeyin has been actively promoting the miracle water and soap on social media, claiming that they possess healing properties, such as curing barrenness and facilitating pregnancies with twins. He also allegedly asserted that the soap is NAFDAC-registered, which spurred public efforts to verify these claims.

NAFDAC received petitions from concerned individuals who also submitted samples of the products for examination. The products in question include:

  • Miracle and healing water
  • River Jordan water
  • Miracle water from the pool of Bethsaida
  • New Beginning Mount Camel miracle water
  • Water of Life miracle water from the pool of Bethsaida
  • Father Smelled Perfume

Following these complaints, NAFDAC, under the guidance of its Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS) Director, instructed the Delta State Coordinator to verify the church’s operations. An undercover purchase of the miracle water was made at a cost of 3000 naira, and photographs of other products were taken.

On August 27, NAFDAC’s investigative and enforcement team, along with a federal task force on counterfeit and unwholesome foods, visited the church to commence their investigation. However, officials from Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries did not cooperate with the team. Instead, they submitted a legal document to NAFDAC headquarters in Abuja on August 28, rather than honoring the invitation to the NAFDAC office in Asaba.

The document revealed that the church had entered into a production agreement with Globod Table Water without informing NAFDAC. In response, NAFDAC has issued a public warning stating that none of these miracle products are registered with the agency. The public is advised to avoid purchasing these products, and NAFDAC has reiterated its commitment to a thorough investigation into the church’s activities.

Akintola emphasized that NAFDAC operates on scientific principles and relies on verifiable facts before registering any product. The agency will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate regulatory actions to ensure public safety and compliance with food and drug regulations.
