The Lagos State Government has extended its work-from-home policy for public sector workers by an additional three months. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the extension through a circular issued by the state’s Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, on Wednesday.
This decision follows an earlier directive issued on February 28, which allowed workers to work remotely on designated days to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal. Under the policy, workers on grade levels 01 to 14 are permitted to work from home for two days per week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 can work remotely for one day a week.
The policy was initially introduced to reduce the financial burden on workers resulting from increased transportation costs following the removal of fuel subsidies. Governor Sanwo-Olu noted in the circular that the work-from-home arrangement had positively influenced productivity across various ministries, departments, and agencies within the state government.
The extension of the policy took effect on September 4 and will continue for the next three months, reflecting the administration’s commitment to supporting its workforce during challenging economic times.
