Ajuri Ngelale Steps Down as President Tinubu’s Spokesman for Health Reasons

Written by Oryiman David Mson

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, has announced his decision to step down from his role due to health-related issues.

In a statement released, Ngelale explained that his resignation was necessary to focus on addressing medical concerns affecting his immediate family. He expressed the difficult nature of the decision, which came after several days of consultation with his family.

The statement read:
“On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to deal directly with medical matters presently affecting my immediate, nuclear family.”

Ngelale acknowledged the weight of his responsibilities in his various roles, which include being the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

“While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision was made after significant consultations with my family, as a vexing medical situation has worsened at home,” he added.

Ngelale conveyed his hope of returning to national service when circumstances allow, stating, “I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit.”

He concluded by asking for privacy during this challenging period, saying, “I respectfully ask for some privacy for my family and I during this time.”

Ngelale’s departure marks a temporary pause in his pivotal role within President Tinubu’s administration, as he steps back to focus on personal matters.
