Popular Nigerian singer Oyindamola Emmanuel, better known as Dammy Krane, has been released from police custody, bringing an end to a tense situation that began six days ago. Dammy Krane had been arrested on the orders of fellow artist Davido over allegations of defamation.
The dispute between the two artists escalated when Dammy Krane made a series of posts on his X handle (formerly Twitter), implying that Davido’s planned marriage to Chioma Rowland was only happening because she caught him cheating. In response, Davido, through his lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, issued a 24-hour ultimatum for Dammy Krane to retract the offensive statements or face legal action. Davido also demanded that Dammy Krane refrain from making any further defamatory statements against him on any platform.
During his detention, Dammy Krane claimed in additional posts that he had been illegally arrested at Davido’s request. However, the situation took a turn when popular social media critic, Verydarkman (VDM), announced Dammy Krane’s release on August 29, 2024.
In a video shared by VDM on Instagram, Dammy Krane publicly apologized to Davido for the allegations he made, including references to the late Tagbo’s death, and expressed a desire to reconcile. He stated, “I want to say a big thank you to my brother. There are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I want to apologize for Tagbo’s death allegation. David is still my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything.”
The video, captioned by VDM, expressed hope that Dammy Krane would focus on his music moving forward and appreciated Davido for his understanding and willingness to listen.
As the two artists work towards resolving their differences, fans are hopeful that this marks the end of their public feud.
