Ayra Starr Opens Up About Love Life and Career in Recent Interview

Written by Oryiman David Mson

In a candid interview with Dazed Magazine, Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, revealed that despite her image as a “lover girl,” she has never been in a fully committed relationship. The 21-year-old Afrobeats sensation, who graced the cover of the latest issue of the British lifestyle magazine, shared that her focus on music and modeling since she was 15 has left little time for romance.

Starr admitted, “I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong-headed about it. I actually have never been in love. I have been in certain situations – not situationships! – but I have never been in a fully committed relationship.”

She explained that her intense career commitments, including modeling and university studies, have overshadowed her personal life. Now, as she enjoys her success and the freedom it brings, Starr remains open to finding love.

In June, Tems, another prominent Nigerian singer, also revealed she has never been in love, adding a layer of solidarity among Nigeria’s top female artists. Tems praised Starr for her hard work and hinted at a possible collaboration between the two.

Ayra Starr has made significant strides in the music industry, with her hit track “Bloody Samaritan” and her debut album “19 and Dangerous” cementing her status as one of Africa’s most promising stars. Her recent album, “The Year I Turned 21,” continues to build on her success, marking her as a leading figure in the global music scene.
