Written by Oryiman David Mson

The 2024 edition of the Promise Land Festival is set to be an unforgettable event as some of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeat stars—Rema, Asake, and Omah Lay—have been announced as headliners. The festival will take place on October 4, 5, and 6, 2024, at the Gold Coast in Australia, and will feature a lineup of international artists, showcasing the global appeal of Afrobeats.

Rema, one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising music exports, is scheduled to perform on October 5th alongside international acts such as Jorja Smith, Fiji, and Miguel. Known for hits like Calm Down and Dumebi, Rema’s performance is highly anticipated as he continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his distinct sound, a fusion of Afrobeat and global pop influences.

On the festival’s closing day, October 6th, Omah Lay and Asake will take the stage, alongside hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes. The Nigerian duo has been making waves in the global music scene, with Asake’s Work of Art album and Omah Lay’s unique blend of Afro-fusion receiving widespread acclaim. Their performances are expected to be among the highlights of the festival, bringing the vibrant energy of Afrobeats to the Australian audience.

In addition to Rema, Asake, and Omah Lay, the Promise Land Festival will feature performances from other notable Nigerian artists such as The Compozers, Sarz, Seyi Vibez, Tiwa Savage, Victony, Ruger, BNXN (formerly known as Buju), and Shallipopi. This impressive roster underscores the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global music stage.

The heavy presence of Afrobeats stars at international festivals like Promise Land is a testament to the genre’s remarkable rise in recent years. Nigerian artists are not only topping global charts but are also receiving international accolades, further establishing Afrobeats as a global cultural force.

In 2023, Afrobeats made history with the creation of the Grammy category for Best African Music Performance, highlighting the genre’s growing recognition and influence. South African sensation Tyla became the first-ever winner of the award, cementing Afrobeats and African music’s place in the global spotlight.

The Promise Land Festival is set to be a landmark event for Afrobeats fans worldwide, with performances from Rema, Asake, Omah Lay, and many more. As Nigerian artists continue to break boundaries and make their mark on the global stage, this festival serves as a celebration of the genre’s ongoing evolution and influence.
