Actress Laura Adebisi Sparks Online Reactions with Comments on Nigeria’s Formation
British-Nigerian actress, Laura Lake Adebisi, has stirred significant reactions across social media after sharing her thoughts in a viral video, stating that Nigeria “should never have been a country.”

In her video, Adebisi expressed her opinion on the ideological differences between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions, arguing that these differences serve as a foundation for questioning the country’s formation.

The actress also referenced the historical events of the Nigerian Civil War in the late 1960s, during which the Eastern region of Nigeria, known as Biafra, attempted to secede. Adebisi suggested that the British government played a role in preventing Biafra’s independence, allegedly to maintain access to Nigeria’s resources.

“The traces of colonialism still linger in Nigeria. The country should not have been created in the first place, considering the vast ideological divide between the North and South,” Adebisi said.

She further highlighted the lasting impact of colonialism on Nigeria, stating that external forces influenced the country’s current structure to maintain control over its wealth and resources.

“The influence of colonialism is still evident today. It’s reflected in the way the country was mapped out and shaped,” she added.

Adebisi’s comments have generated considerable debate, with many sharing differing views on the subject.
