Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta, has announced that the institution has begun receiving payments for students’ school fees through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). He made this disclosure during the inauguration of the newly elected members of the institution’s Students Union Government (SUG) on Friday.
Odedeji explained that only 26 students, out of the 81 who applied for the loan, were deemed eligible after a screening process. The school has received bank alerts covering the school fees for these qualified students for the upcoming session. Additionally, the students are set to receive maintenance allowances directly into their bank accounts.
The Rector expressed concern that many students had not taken advantage of this federal government initiative, which is designed to alleviate financial stress related to school fees. He urged students to apply for the loan, as it remains available to help them avoid the struggle of finding funds for their education.
Odedeji emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the school management and students to ensure the institution’s overall growth.
Prosper Oladele, the newly inaugurated SUG President, pledged to represent the students’ interests effectively throughout his tenure.
