We’re Hungry, Reduce Fuel Price – Bishop Kukah Urges APC Government

Written by Oryiman David Mson

Roman Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to take immediate action to lower fuel prices, as Nigerians continue to face severe economic hardship.

Speaking in Abuja during the unveiling of The Progressive Institute (TPI), the intellectual arm of the APC, Kukah expressed concern over the growing hunger in the country. He shared an anecdote, saying, “A girl was asked which party she belonged to – APC, LP, or PDP – and she replied, ‘I am hungry.’ This shows the level of hardship Nigerians are facing.”

Kukah urged the government to urgently find ways to reduce fuel prices, noting that the current situation is unsustainable. He also expressed concerns about the state of democracy in Nigeria, warning that without a solid foundation, the country’s democratic system would remain fragile.

Dignitaries at the event included APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s deputy Barau Jibrin, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, and several governors and ministers.
