Governor Godwin Obaseki has urged the people of Edo State, particularly those from Esan in Edo Central, to make the upcoming 21st September governorship election meaningful by voting for the most competent candidate. The governor emphasized that the state cannot afford to elect a “counterfeit” governor.
Obaseki made these remarks during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign rallies held on Thursday in Ekpoma and Irrua, two towns in Edo West and Central, the home base of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The governor highlighted the importance of choosing a candidate who understands the tasks ahead and has the ability to carry them out effectively. This, he said, is why he is endorsing Dr. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie as the best choices for governor and deputy governor.
Obaseki called on attendees to spread the message by encouraging at least five people each to come out and vote for the PDP on election day.
PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, also addressed the crowd, stressing the need for continuity in governance. He assured the people that his administration would build on the achievements of the current government and work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in Edo State.
He urged everyone to turn out early on election day and cast their votes for the PDP.
