The Eko Club of Lagos is marking its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Lagos. During a press conference held in Surulere on Thursday, the club underscored its pivotal role in safeguarding Lagos’ traditions and contributing to the city’s development.
Dr. Ade Dosunmu, former president and chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, reflected on the club’s journey, highlighting its efforts to foster social, cultural, and intellectual growth. He emphasized that Eko Club has not only nurtured talents and celebrated the city’s diversity but has also passed down Lagos’ heritage to future generations. Dosunmu also noted the club’s philanthropic contributions, including scholarships for underprivileged children and healthcare support, which have brought hope and opportunities to many.
Eko Club President, Razaak Olugbenga Amodu, expressed gratitude to the club’s members for their dedication and praised the visionary leadership of the club’s founders. While remaining non-political, Eko Club has grown into a respected voice advocating for progress in society.
The 50th-anniversary celebrations will feature a range of events, including religious services, lectures, a documentary screening, a health walk, and a grand cultural day to celebrate the legacy and traditions of Lagos.
