Premier League champions, Manchester City, have been fined over £2 million by the Premier League for repeatedly delaying kick-offs, breaching league rules 22 times over the past two seasons. The infractions involved delayed restarts after halftime and kick-offs, including in their final game of the last term against West Ham, which started two minutes and 46 seconds late.
City faced fines ranging from £10,000 to £200,000, with the most significant penalty associated with the West Ham game. In total, the delays amounted to 39 minutes and 52 seconds over 23 incidents across 22 matches. The club accepted the Premier League’s decision, as determined by a three-person independent panel, and has since reminded its players and management of their responsibilities.
